Totok Julianto of Banda Perdana Travel (BP Travel) is the owner and operator of Aceh-hotels, Aceh's first and premier independent traveller service. Totok started BP Travel in 1998, a travel agency based out of Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh Province, Indonesia.
Following the tsunami, which washed away his office and equipment, and family and staff were lost, Totok has managed to put this disaster behind him and rebuild his business.
Totok has this to say......“I am proud to be part of a bridge that will allow travelers from all over the world to book online even the smallest guesthouse in the remotest parts of Aceh without the guesthouse being connected to the internet. Tourism in Aceh has been hampered for many years though as a destination we have enormous potential and are strategically located being so close to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. I am really looking forward to this new opportunity that will assist tourism development in Aceh."
BP Travel was chosen by Worldhotel-link.com to be their local operator in Aceh, and has received valuable support in developing this online accommodation booking service from the World Bank / IFC managed Private Enterprise Participation for Aceh & Nias program (PEP Aceh & Nias). It is funded by the IFC and the Government of Australia, with the objective of supporting the growth of private enterprises in the areas affected by 2004 tsunami.
PEP Aceh & Nias is committed to improving small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access to finance and quality business development services. It is also involved in value addition to firms and the creation of an enabling business environment.
